January 2010 Notes

The December meeting of the Scottish Section was diverted to the Hawes Inn only 100yds away as the Two Bridges was unexpectedly closed. Despite this the attendance was good with 14 members present. We were also pleased to welcome Gordon Ward. Its always good to see a new face. I actually met Gordon when I saw a Matchless parked in a slip road just outside Edinburgh on the A90. As there was an AA van present and it was raining I guessed he was not just stopped to enjoy the view. On his first trip out on his G3 he had a problem with a suspected dropped valve and had to be recovered, however, I did take the opportunity to encourage him to attend our Section meetings. Ivor Ward entertained us with tales about his abortive attempts to go to the Alternative Rally but, rain and mechanical troubles meant that 20miles travel in two hours meant he would arrive after the rally had finished! Welcome news was that the Annual Dinner price as reported in the Jampot last month at £25 was not correct and the price is actually £22. For all who would like to know more about the Scottish section and our exploits I can now tell everyone that our new website is now up and running and you are all encouraged to have a look and please let us know what you think (honest) and if you have anything you want to contribute, you are encouraged to do so. www.ajsm-scotland.co.uk
